Mommy's Helper
I have a little helper here at home now. She wants to help with EVERYTHING, which isn't necessarily always good. But, I will take help washing the dishes any day...

Getting ready
So, I'm officially 'giving in' -- my body is finally feeling the effects of a 40 pound weight gain and carrying it around for 9+ months. I will be 38 weeks pregnant tomorrow and this weekend was the beginning of the end.
Saturday, I thought might be the 'day' -- I was cramping and not feeling well all day, but by the end of the day I was fine. Today was better, but just exhausted! I sleep about 5 hours at night and then I toss and turn....my body is getting ready for those initial sleepless nights.
I've been having more baby dreams, but they all revolve around breast-feeding. I must be feeling stressed about that?
I suspect I have a week at the most left of this pregnancy...not sure if I'm ready for another baby, but I'm definitely ready to get my 'old' body back. Even though I know my body will never be the same, it changes drastically after having a baby, but I'm ready to see my feet again :)
I'll keep this blog up to date as much as possible and will post as soon as I can after the little one arrives....

Out for a Stroll...
Even though it's not spring and the temps are not high, we still manage to make the most of the day and get some fresh air!
The preschooler is now OBSESSED with riding her bike, I mean tricycle. "Why does my bike have 3 wheels on it, mommy?" So, she now knows the meaning of 'tri' and 'bi' after our little walk.
Down the country road -- I think she could ride for miles -- I'm just having a hard time keeping up with her:

Overhead in the back seat...
"I love diamonds, I love diamonds, I want diamonds, I want diamonds" (in a sing-song voice)
Not sure where the preschooler heard that...not from me, I know! Not that I wouldn't like some diamonds, but I'm just not that type of gal. I'm more of a minimalist. I'm a bit worried about her song...what does that mean for us? :)

Are you ready?
Well, actually NO.
No, I'm not ready for the baby that's coming "any day now" (as my doctor would say). At my appointment last week, my doctor asked if we had everything ready. I started to laugh because my husband and I looked at each other the other night and realized we had NOTHING ready for this baby.
With your first baby, you are ready for at least 4 months before that little one comes. With the second....life tends to get in the way of preparing for a new addition to your family.
We had no diapers, no bed, no clothes ready, NOTHING for this 2nd baby.....poor thing.
So, today, we went shopping and got everything that a baby could ever need: diapers, onesies, and pacifiers. I found my breast pump in storage, we put up the bassinet and got all the neutral clothes ready. I'm washing blankets and we're good to go!
All that's left is to pack a bag and wait for the baby. I have a feel that I won't make it many more weeks. My official due date is March 9th, but I'm having a scheduled c-section (don't know that date)....which is suspect is either very late Feb. or the first couple of days in March. But, this baby is pushing lower and lower each day. I wake up at night with sharp pains. I am having several contractions a day. My doctor said if I have 6 contractions an hour then I need to come into the hospital and they'll deliver the baby...
On Monday, I'll be 36 weeks and my doctor said I can go at any time. He's going to do an ultrasound next Thursday to make sure everything is okay and maybe I'll know more then.
Until then....we keep waiting!

pregnancy #2
a hawk?
We just got home from preschool and I was unpacking the backpack and heard a thud against our back window. When I looked, I saw a bird flying away - happy to see it wasn't injured. Then, out of the corner of my eye I saw this:
WHOA! Look at how large this bird is -- I think it's a hawk of some sort (I'm still trying to learn about all the birds we have around our house)
