my many colored days

Recently, the big sister has taken a passion for picking out her own clothes and dressing herself. I am 100% supportive in this process, daddy has other thoughts (he has some difficulty with the choices she makes and the lack of matching!) Above was "blue day" for soccer.

Here was "green day" for church (oh well -- sometimes you just have to pick your battles and this isn't one I'm going to fight) and golf practice.

Here was "red day"

First tastes

I think it's kind of early to start food with the little brother, but he is SO eager when we're eating and he stares at our food and follows it to our mouths -- I was feeling sorry for him, so I decided to go ahead and let him some cereal.

Big Sister wanted to try too -- she wasn't too happy with his messy face!

"Mom -- can my spoon go in my hair?"

A bumper crop!

This is the second year we've tried planting and growing a garden (I need to take a picture of it now!). The first year was definitely a learning process....we were able to harvest some tomatoes and some cucumbers. This year, I decided to be a bit more dedicated and tried some different techniques. First of all, we put down weed block, since I knew I wasn't going to be dedicated or have the time to do lots of weeding. I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but I am happy with the results. We have lots of corn stalks growing taller and taller, some cucumbers starting to flower, LOTS of pumpkin vines trying to take over everything, some tomatoes (in the garden and in a 'container garden' on the back porch), some peas and some beans.

We've been picking some peas and beans here at there -- only a couple at a time. But, tonight, we hit the mother load! We had two handfuls of veggies to boil up for dinner!!

They were YUMMY!!!

Guy Smiley

This little guys is such a happy boy -- I really had him laughing at one point, but of course when the camera starts he has something new to focus on!

Summer Festival

Big Sister, Ted: the smoothie man & cousin Wil.

YUM! That strawberry smoothie was the BEST!

Cousins sharing a smoothie -- they actually did really well sharing!

Look at how big that cup of smoothie is -- a yard! The baby wasn't too thrilled that we didn't share with him!

Family

Can you tell who belongs to whom? I can't believe how much they look related in this picture!

The 'big sister', 'little brother' and cousin Cori (my brother's daughter). Cori looks JUST like my daughter when she was 2 in this photo....I didn't realize it until just now.

Best Friends?

Not sure if they will really turn into best friends, but so far they are just that: best buddies!

Big sister just LOVES her blankies and when she was smaller, she would put one on her head and call it her 'blankie hat'....well, she gave one to little brother -- he was in a little bit of shock!
