Summer 2009

A "beginning-of-summer" update -- I'll try to update frequently, but it's hard when we're having SO much fun this summer!

Big Sister: she's now 4 years old and has a personality extraordinaire, to say the least. She knows what she wants and doesn't want and she'll make sure you know too! We've been having some struggles with her attitude -- she's still trying to figure out how she fits into life now having another little person at home and not ruling the roost at the new babysitter's house. I tell people that she used to be the 'queen bee' (at home and at the old babysitters), and now she's a 'worker bee' and she's NOT liking it!

She loves her daddy and whenever she gets hurt or is sad, she asks for her daddy, "I neeeeeed my daddy!"

We just set up this little pool and she has figured out that she LOVES the water! I had to drag her out of it today to come inside and rest....I'm sure there will be lots of water/pool pictures this summer.
Little Brother: 3.5 months old now. He has just figured out how to roll over and he doesn't care to be on his back much anymore. He sleeps on his side or on his belly and LOVES to suck his thumb (just like big sister). He will spit out his pacifier in order to suck his thumb. He just received some little 'blankies' (thanks to Grammy) and he likes to put a blankie near his face and suck his thumb -- he'll be asleep in under 30 seconds! He's my cuddle bunny -- loves to be held, loves to watch his big sister, loves to stand up (doesn't care to sit down much -- uh oh!). I suspect he'll be crawling soon -- doesn't talk too much (a little worrisome for a speech therapist mom, huh?), but he'll have is motor skills down to a science before he speaks, I'm sure!

He likes to either be standing or sitting up -- he really likes to be in his exersaucer, that way he can spin around where his big sister is and he can still see her -- always keeping an eye on her!

Learned to roll over in under 1 hour and hasn't stopped! Here in the picture, you can see the 'after' effects of his laser treatment on the right side of his chest. These little marks will go away in ~2 weeks and then every 2 months we do it all over again. The purpose is to lighten his birthmark, not take it away completely (impossible to do), so we'll know more after the 2 weeks are up and we can see how it has lightened.
