Cousin's Weekend 2010

Ready for Kindergarten

Big sister is all ready for Kindergarten:

But, we still don't know where she'll be going -- the 2.5 hours to the public school, with lots of running around and being bused back and forth to a daycare center? Or the 7 hour full-day program at the local private school? We went to an open house to the private school and I fell in LOVE with the school and program -- very old building, you could just feel the history when you walked in the doors. It's a small 'community-type', family feeling there. AND -- the good news: it's only about $50 extra a week than what we'd be paying to have her carted back and forth to a not-so-good daycare program outside of the 2.5 hours she'd be at the public school.....seems like a pretty easy answer to me, but we aren't 100% decided yet. We'll know soon...

New Friends

So, my husband has decided to feed the stray cats that roam outside our back door. He's been feeding them all winter, against my wishes. I don't mind feeding the stray cats, but I grew up in the country....I know what comes along with stray cats:

We are currently feeding 3 stray cats, an opossum and a raccoon...

The opossum and the raccoon aren't afraid of the cats and the cats aren't afraid of the 'wild' life either. The sad this is that the opossum and the raccoon aren't afraid of humans either!
So, if you're missing the wild life at your house....it's a good bet they've showed up at our house due to the rumor that we have good food to spare to all of God's creatures!

Some randomness...

We went to Target today to run some errands and we decided to eat a little lunch at the 'cafe'....we like taking random pictures...doesn't everyone?

We couldn't get Little Brother to look at the camera, let alone fit in the picture!

Big Sister has decided that she now likes, in fact, LOVES princesses! If you know anything about my daughter, you know that this is CRAZY-talk. My Disney Cars loving tom-boy daughter is turning into Disney Princess loving girly-girl. I can't say that I am enjoying this transition....I know that once the princesses hit, then there will be requests for skirts, bikini swimsuits, short-shorts, low-cut tops, make-up, boyfriends and the list goes on and on.....

walking, walking, walking!

So, Little Brother LOVES to try his new skill at walking...that is, whenever Big Sister doesn't come tumbling after him with excitement!

A trip to the children's Museum

We've had enough of this cold weather and decided to get out of the house and go somewhere 'special' today -- for a fun day! We don't get out and about much, mainly because all activities cost so much -- it's hard to find free fun in the winter.

Anyway, we decided to head to the local children's museum for a day of fun! It cost us $18 to get in, but it was well worth it!
We played in the bubbles,

popping them was extra fun!

The wind tunnel was fun with our friend.

The building area was Big Sister's FAVORITE! The problem was that I had Little Brother in a front carrier, so it was hard for me to help pound those nails!

Trying out the saw...

We all wore 'magic' glasses....except Little Brother.

We even ate lunch -- brought our picnic lunch and ate in the snack area -- it was a GREAT day!

Some fresh air -- FINALLY!

The sun decided to come out for a bit today, so we took full advantage of the bright lights and not-so-freezing-temperatures and ventured outside for some fresh air!

We brushed off the swings,

searched for icicles,

and smiled for the camera!
