I try to remember everything my daughter says, but I tend to not write things down, so I soon forget those cute little phrases and responses she uses. But today, she has 3 responses in a row that were just too great to not document.
#1 We went to my work today for an inservice and when checking in the rehab nursing supervisor says to my daughter, "You look just like your daddy" (she's the ONLY person in the entire world that thinks she looks like her daddy -- the rest of the world says she's a spitting image of me!). My daughter looks up at the nursing supervisor and says, "but I'm not a boy, I'm a girl!"
#2 The rehab doctor (he has 3 small children of his own) I work with comes up to us after the inservice and says, "Wow, you're getting so tall. How old are you now?" My daughter says, "Three" (more like 'free' with her little preschool speech pattern). The doctor says, "You're so big I thought you must be four. When will you be four?". My daughter says, "After I'm three."
#3 As we're leaving the hospital to come back home, a man passes us in the hallway. He's wearing black pants, black shoes and a white and black shirt. The shirt had a white body and black arms. My daughter says as he walks past us, "That looks like a penguin!" (Luckily, he didn't hear her or myself as I laughed really loud as I realized what she was talking about)
Nothing like that heart-warming feeling you get by the innocence of a child.
