Well, okay, there aren't any tigers or bears, but somehow a pack of lions have entered our house! Not sure where they came from or how they entered, but for some reason they are here and we're not sure how to get rid of them.
The suspense is killing you all, isn't it?
Payton has woke up for the past 2 days from her nap and/or in the morning talking about the 'lions'. On Monday, she woke up crying and screaming about, "get the lions out of here", "get them out of my bed". She was actually shaking when I picked her up out of bed!
She doesn't talk about them during the day and the babysitter said she doesn't talk about them there...so, I guess the lions are only at our house, when she closes her eyes. I am racking my brain trying to think of where she saw or heard about lions, but I can't think of anything. The only thing I suspect may be a Diego episode or something -- you know, he's the animal rescuer and all!
Tonight, when we put Payton to bed and were saying our prayers, she said, "Jesus protect me from lions"...yes, she DID say that! Poor thing...I hope it doesn't get worse...she hasn't woken up in the middle of the night...yet.

Awww. Poor thing! :)
I'm always amazed at things Jacob will say and I wonder where on earth he learned that or where he got it from!
Hmm, a nightmare maybe? Weird though - they pick things up in the strangest places sometimes...
Good luck keeping the lions away! :)
Awww! She was shaking? That just breaks my heart. :( I want to come and protect her from the lions...wherever they came from.
Hailey had a hard time going to sleep last night. When we went in her room to check on her she seemed scared of something. She wanted us to stay right there with her. Sometimes the cats get stuck in her room. Does yours? You have a cat, right? They could look like lions in the dark, I suppose.
awww poor little sugar. I wonder if you ought not try to help her feel good about lions. Get some books, watch a fun lion video....JoJo's circus has a sweet lion on it. Maybe if you talked about lions in a good way, she would lose her fear? Just an idea.
When I played bridge today, one of my friends told me that there is a commercial for a program on the Discovery channel that shows some rather scary lions--perhaps Payton saw this ad, or something similar. The concensus among the eight of us grandmothers was that you might get a spray bottle and spray some water around the room and tell Payton that it will deter lions. It seems wrong to lie to her, but it breaks my heart to think that she is frightened. One of my friends suggested that you could call it Fairy Spray, since little girls seem to like fairies. Good luck. I hope the problem is solved before you get this message.
I am thinking of you and your girl. Any luck on making Lions less scary? I hope so! :)
