I work as a Speech Therapist at a local hospital that also has a rehab unit -- for patients who've had strokes or back surgery or hip/knee replacements and aren't strong enough to go home yet. So, I was working with an 85 year old gentleman who has had a stroke and his wife is present in the room as well. At the hospital, patients have the opportunity to check out a laptop computer during their stay if they'd like to have one on their room. So, my patient 'ordered' one. Here's the scenario that unfolded:
Computer techie walks in and begins to plug in laptop and get the 'official' paperwork signed. I am sitting next to the patient, working on some speech therapy 'stuff'.
WIFE: you mean he can get his email here?
TECHIE: yes
WIFE: you mean you're going to 123 Pine Street (not patient's real address) to get his email?
(computer techie and I start to snicker a bit)
TECHIE: well no, he can get his email here
WIFE: well, our computer is at 123 Pine Street, how can he get his email here? His email is on our computer at home. How are you going to go to 123 Pine Street to get his email when we are here right now?
Wife then starts laughing with us and says, "I don't really understand computers"
ME: yes, it's kind of complicated, but don't worry, he can get his email here at the hospital because his email is on the Internet.
WIFE: oh, I don't understand oh well!
WIFE: you know he once tried to teach me about computers and he was telling me about 'cut and paste'. Well, I know computers can do a lot of things, but 'cut and paste'? Come on, I know computers can't do that!
That's when I lost it! I was laughing so hard, we all were laughing in the room, it was a nice moment. Just think about it, my patient and his wife are in their early to mid-80's and here they are learning about computers....what we take for granted.

LOL Great story Sue! What a precious couple. You should have taught them how to blog. ha!
awwwwww what a fun story. I would have been giggling too. :)
have a great weekend.
Oh, I love it! I can picture the entire thing. My mom will be 70 years old this year and she has done so well learning her computer...she STILL can not figure out how to "cut and paste"! I teach her every single time I'm home. She can't remember how to run her DVD player either but she always buys DVDs! :)
Your story made me smile, too...I can cut and paste, but the DVD thing....and that darn 12:00...12:00...12:00 drives me crazy!!!
