A 'new' toy...

I belong to this wonderful mom's group through our church and we've been meeting for almost 2 1/2 years now. We have on average 6 moms and their little ones come every other week for a Bible study, fellowship and snacks -- of course there has to be food!

One of the moms has 4 boys, the youngest being 5 years old....so, she was cleaning her house and found lots of treasures to pass along to all of us with smaller children. One of the wonderful treasures she shared with us is this GREAT desk:

My toddler played at this desk -- coloring, dominos, cards, etc. for 45 minutes when we got home! She LOVES this desk!! I had to promise her that she could play on it again when she woke up from her nap.

The mom had LOTS of other treasures to share as well -- games, books, dump trucks and even a rocking horse! She gave it all to us for FREE -- she said she just wanted to get it out of her house.

This inspired another mother and myself to think about starting a 'toy swap' group. Where we each bring 5 toys (books, games, toys, etc) to share with another family for 2 weeks and then bring them back to the group and share another 5 toys in 2 weeks. This way the kids won't get bored with their own toys and every 2 weeks you can get 'new' toys!!

Somehow I always get inspired to do stuff like this and then I volunteer myself to orgainze it all -- a parenting group where families get together and talk about discipline, parenting stuff; a dining out group -- where the parents go out to dinner and the kids stay with a sitter at my house;
Relay 4 Life team; and I want to start a cooking group or meal-swap group....too bad in my 'free' time I have to work! :)

Love the desk - we had the same one for Abby for a while. :)

And I love your toy swap idea. I've done that kind of thing informally with friends, but an organized group is a great idea!
