a NEW chart

We have started yet another chart in our house....this time, it's a chart that makes me SO HAPPY!

Can you read it? It's a CHORE chart! I've been wanting to start one of these for a couple of weeks now, and finally sat down and created it this past weekend. The toddler is also VERY excited about it -- because, she can 'read' it by herself!! I drew those little pictures to go with the chore. "feed Poohs", "napkins on the table", "dishes in sink", "put away books", "clean up toys".

Now, of course, it's a work in progress. My toddler doesn't really know that those diamond shapes are supposed to be napkins and she thinks for "clean up toys" that means only if she's gotten out the blocks. But, it's starting to work.

She's been asking, "can I get a treat?" each time she puts on a sticker -- that's because with the potty chart, she gets a single M&M or some other sort of single treat when she goes potty. (we're trying to phase out the treat, but it's not really working....I wonder why?) The agreement was that once she filled up her chore chart, we would go out for ice cream together as a family -- I mean, really -- what is more motivating than an ice cream cone!?

We're not ready to give her an allowance -- she's only 3 by gosh sake -- but, I AM ready for her to start picking up on some responsibility around the house....she's come to that age and there's no turning back now.
