Here's to you, Mary!

We all went to my husband's family reunion this past Sunday (photos to follow) -- it was a wonderful day with cool weather, some early summer fun and a little swimming too!

But, the best part? When my husband's great aunt, Mary told me:

"Can you blog me that recipe for the calico beans? They were wonderful -- just blog them to me!"

Yes, my husband's great aunt reads this blog! There are several family members that read the blog, but it seems that only my mom and my mother-in-law know how to comment. The rest of them haven't figured it out yet! I'm just proud of great aunt Mary for even using the computer and finding my blog every day, so I understand that you haven't learned how to 'comment' yet.

So, here's to you, Mary --

CALICO BAKED BEANS

1 can kidney beans, drained
1 can butter beans, drained
1 can black beans, drained
1 can garbanzo beans, drained
1 can white beans, drained
1 can baked beans (not drained)
1/2 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons white vinegar
1/4 cup mustard
3/4 cup brown sugar

Mix all together in a crock pot and cook on high for ~4 hours.

Now, you must know that I don't really measure when I cook. I also don't really follow directions that well -- so, these are the beans I added to the crock pot -- the original recipe only calls for 3 types of beans -- but, I like to be daring and 'original'! So, I can't guarantee that they will taste the same as they did yesterday at the picnic....but, it's worth a shot!
