WHAT a day!

Today was supposed to be an easy day....I was kidding myself!

First, we were having a freezer delivered today! It was an exciting morning waiting for the delivery guys. I have been wanting an extra freezer to put in our basement for a long time -- I have dreams of cooking lots of food and freezing 1/2 of it for later use. I have dreams of getting all the good sales at the grocery store on meat and frozen items and having a freezer full of lots of exciting possibilities and I can then lessen the stress of making dinner every night if I have options.

The delivery men came and took the stand-up freezer to the basement with no problems -- so far, so good in the AM.

I was supposed to go to work in the afternoon, but the patient schedules were changed at work and they didn't really need me (no big deal, but I do need to work a little bit more -- for a little extra money -- I'll tell you all about our fun vacation coming up!)

We were on our way out the door to pick up some ebay purchases. I am addicted to ebay and 'local pick-up' for items. You see, you can search for whatever items you're interested in and then narrow the search to a specific mile radius from your zip code. I do that with everything from books, to clothes -- you name it. Then, I contact the seller and ask if I could bid and do local pick-up. So, we were on our way to the local Home-Depot to 'exchange' money for some cute little girl's clothes -- 2 shirts, 2 pair of shorts and a summer dress -- all for $2!! (you can't even get that good of a deal at a garage sale!)

I had the toddler daughter in the car ready to go and forgot something in the house -- so, I ran inside to get it. The car was running and I realized that the car automatically locked after I closed the door. So, there was the toddler buckled in her car seat, car running and I had no way to get in! I found the 2nd automatic car door opener, but it wouldn't work with the car running. My heart was pounding. Luckily the car has a key pad on the outside of the driver's door. I frantically called my in-laws (the car was formerly thiers) and said I had a 'slight emergency' and I needed to figure out the keypad code.

My mother-in-law knew the code and I was able to get in with no problem-- crisis averted!

When we arrived back home from the grocery store, we found a dead squirrel at the end of our driveway. The toddler asked what happened. I didn't know what to say, so I just decided to go with a life lesson: "the squirrel wasn't looking when he tried to cross the road and he got hit by a car. We need to always remember to look for cars when we're crossing the road". She wanted to know why those flies were all over the squirrel...."I don't know", I replied. I'm not ready to explain about flies yet...

The toddler keeps talking about the 'deaded up' squirrel. I told her we'd have to ask daddy to bury it when he gets home -- I'm sure he'll LOVE me for that one!

Oh dear! You did have quite a day after I left. Maybe our company threw your day "off" a bit. I'm glad you got in the car.
