Love Thy Neighbor

It's going to be an interesting summer...

Our mid-70 year old neighbors (on both sides of us) are going to provide some great blog-worthy episodes this summer!!

This weekend, my husband and my dad were cutting down some trees in our yard -- we just have way too many! We're trying to 'thin' the herd and let the more healthy trees have a chance to grow larger and stronger (this is my way of rationalizing cutting down living trees).

Anyway, while they were cutting and chopping, one of our neighbors comes over and starts up a conversation with my husband about cutting down a dead tree in their yard. Somehow the conversation must have gotten around to serving in the military. The neighbor asked my husband,

"Did you serve during Vietnam?"

WHOA -- take a look at my husband at that picture up there at the top of my blog page -- to the right there. Do you think he looks old enough to serve in Vietnam???? I sure hope not!

Made us all laugh a little (okay, a lot) when my husband shared the story with us later that day.

For cutting down their dead tree in the neighbor's yard? He mowed our lawn!!! Now, talk about the barter system....I'm liking this trade off! Now, if we could only find another dead tree in their yard...

It reminds me of one time that I was included in a email that began like this...

"Hello, ladies!"

you know how many people say, "guys" and refer to a group of people -- men and women included? Well, now you know how we feel!! :)
